Method

Counts come from a case-insensitive, word-bounded text scan of each published page — the 159 papers plus the concept, node and stage pages. Each gene matches its symbol and its curated aliases (RELN also counts reelin; APOE counts ApoE4 and apolipoprotein E). A sentence naming two spellings counts twice. The entrant and external-scientist dossiers are withheld from this edition and are not scanned, so these tallies run lower than the full corpus.
